Cellulose aminomethanate by weight loss monitoring

This invention relates to an improvement to a process for synthesizing cellulose aminomethanate wherein cellulose is steeped in an aqueous urea containing solution, dried to form an intimate mixture of cellulose and urea of known composition, and heated to form the cellulose aminomethanate; the improvement comprising, heating the mixture to a temperature above about 125 degrees centigrade, measuring the weight loss of the mixture during heating, comparing the measured weight loss of the mixture during heating to the weight of an equivalent amount of ammonia released in accord with the reaction path: continuing heating until the total measured weight loss corresponds to the total weight of an amount of ammonia released in the reaction when from about 30 to about 100% of the total weight of urea present in the mixture reacts with cellulose. Cellulose aminomethanate manufactured in accord with this process, can be made having a uniform distributioon of substituent throughout the cellulose at the molecular level and comprises a consistently reproducable product for manufacturing sausage casing.

Herbal compositions and methods for diabetes and weight loss management

Herbal compositions and methods suitable for weight loss management and for treating diabetes are disclosed. The compositions comprise Ferula hermonis or an extract thereof, or Ferula hermonis with selected herbs, extracts thereof, and mixture thereof. The methods of reducing weight, and treating diabetes in patients involve oral administration of the compositions. The invention further relates to a method of extracting and standardizing Ferula hermonis extracts and tincture useful for human health.

Weight-loss weigh feeder with pressure compensation

A system is disclosed that minimizes the effect of internal pressure upon weight-loss weighing systems. The system can include a flexible gas purge line that pressurizes the system as well as a pressure compensator that negates the adverse effects of internal pressure on weight sensing equipment during normal operation.
